MKRUFC too strong for Daventry in great conditions

Milton Keynes bounced back from their disappointing Cup result vs Aylesbury with a convincing 80-10 win against a developing Daventry Side.
MK started well showing great patience in defence and keeping good shape. Eventually Yannis Hamilton secured the turnover and the ball went along the line from Stan Brooks and ALix Reynolds releasing Sam Jefferson, whose well timed pass saw Harris Irving race away for the first score. Alix Reynolds converting. MK maintained pressure with brilliant tackling from debutant Ed Gellet and after re-cycling ball twice Yannis Hamilton showed great strength and pace to race through to score.
MK then fell off the pace and became ill disciplined as a number of offside calls saw Daventry’s strong pack surge over twice to bring the score back to 12-10.
Mk then worked out that the supremacy was in the wider channels and great hands from Brad Watson and Sam Jefferson put Nathan Searle away who ran in from 30 yards to dot down behind the posts. Reynolds converting again.
MKs tails were now up and good ruck work from Toby Sargent and Joby Best allowed the Noah Howard Birt to race through the Daventry Defence with Alix converting again. 26-10
More strong work at the breakdown from Stan Brooks and Adam Price provided quick ball for Ellis Stokes to feed Eli Oates who raced away to score – Yannis Hamilton adding the extras.
The backrow were now wreaking havoc – with Joseph Monaghan coming up with a couple of brilliant steals the first one should have led to a try with Dan fittons surge to the line just held up – but minutes later his harassing led to mistakes in the defence and Joby Best mopped up the loose ball to power over. HT 40-10
The second half saw a number of changes with Seb Illingworth coming back on and making some great charges – his fellow prop Taylor Weatherill ripping the ball out of a ruck and good hands from the pack fed the ball to Brad Watson who ran through and dotted down for Reynolds to convert again. With Daventry now tiring Eli Oates picked and went from a scrum and was too strong for the Dav defence to add his second of the game and third of the season. Then came a flurry of tries from the backs. Firstly a brilliant line from full back from ALix Reynolds was too hot for the Dav defence and he raced away and added the extras
Next up the try of the game Ryan Harris Westrope took the ball from kick off and superbly set his backs away. Reynolds fed Watson just outside his 22 – he dummied and then gave to the charging JoJo Monaghan. He sliced up the defence with another superb dummy before cutting back to support and an overhead pass found Michael Robinson who fed Ellis Stokes to score a length of the pitch try which went through 10 pairs of hands
Michael Robinson was next on the score sheet after a superb training ground move off a scrum saw Ellis break away and then feed Brad Watson and then to Robinson. The final score coming after Sean Biard’s brilliant counter rucking won possession which in turn set Taylor Weatherill away on a lung bursting score.

All in all a decent performance with some brilliant passing. Rucking still too ineffective and lots to work on for the Zulu Warriors.
